The Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at the University of Oxford take huge datasets and turn them into traditional academic research papers; but we also build live, interactive data-driven tools and services for everyone to use. We are a mixed team of software developers, clinicians and academics; we pool skills, knowledge, and best practice from each of these three disciplines. We use modern, open methods, sharing all analysis and platform code online to support reproducibility, trust, and efficient re-use.

Team Prime were tasked with finding a Head of Engineering, a Staff Engineer and a Senior Engineer over the space of two months, to both replace leaving members of staff and increase the team size. Working directly with the CTO of the Institute, we were able to quickly find excellent candidates who were extremely mission focused, and happily joined the team. We were not successful for the Staff Engineer role, but did have a short list taken through to interviews.

I've known Thayer for many years, primarily as a friend, and have always admired her strong people-oriented ethics as well as her extensive knowledge of who's who. When I was looking for my next role, and shifting from contract to perm, she had just the thing. It was an important role for me, but I might not have been seen as an obvious fit - that shift from contract to perm is typically viewed with caution. Thayer acted as comms manager, coach, cheerleader and occasional therapist throughout the process. I landed in a role that I'm absolutely delighted with, and I couldn't have done it without her.
